Position Summary:

As a Quality Assurance & Product Safety Analysis Coordinator, you will be responsible for maintaining quality performance measures, such as marketplace complaints, defective returns, CAPs, incoming audit data, charge backs, etc. Issuing progress reports as directed by the Quality Assurance and Product Safety Manager and make improvement recommendations. Ensure the integrity of the Quality Assurance Manual through effective document management practices and yearly updates accordingly. Monitor all tactical quality issues that are communicated to the QA and provide progress updates to other Timberland associates as directed. Identify performance trends and improvement opportunities. Manage the flow of physical samples into and out of the Quality Assurance Department and the distribution of samples as needed. Manage all Product Review meetings by setting the schedule, obtaining the samples, recording the meeting minutes and distributing highlights to field associates. Work with the Quality Assurance and Product Safety Manager in a mentoring capacity by developing a personal development plan designed to create professional growth and increased responsibilities with the QA organization.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Maintain, format, analyze, and distribute department data to drive and support continues improvement activity - electronic ensuring information is accurate and complete such as;

  • Quality Issue Tracking Forms and backup email files
  • Quality Flash Report
  • Sales and Operation Quality updates
  • Factory Chargeback Tracking
  • Online Feedback
  • Returns data
  • Tracking and ensure compliance of the laws e.g. consumer Product Safety Improvement Act for childrens footwear, Restricted Substance, etc.
  • Distribute externally customer required inspection and testing documentation

    2. Manage reporting to clearly outline all current quality issues, inventory position, financial risk, corrective action, factory scorecards, anticipated resolution

    date, etc. Preparedness to address all issues and provide updates as needed verbally.

    3. Manage and set up internal and external incoming quality samples and schedule reviews;

  • Working with the distribution Center, Planning, etc. determine scope of issues received and the impact e.g. amount produced, amount on hand, amount inspected, amount rejected, remake plans, etc.
  • Track, receive, setup, and lead quality product reviews with associated BU, Sourcing, Material Team, Engineering, etc.
  • Define and document repair and/or inspection timing with outside repair facilities as well as the distribution centers
  • Schedule follow-up with regional QA partners to ensure understanding of root cause, corrective actions, and associated factory charge backs

    4. Maintain and distribute the of the Timberland Quality Assurance Manual to ensure an understanding and adherence at all global sources with a focus on continuous improvement procedures

    5. Assist generating leather specs, leather standards, and developing country specific labeling requirements

    Key Responsibilities:

    Years of Related Professional Experience: Strong knowledge and minimum of three years with MS, PLM, SAP, and statistical software such as Visio, Minitab, etc. a plus Strong problem solving, analytical skills and quality assurance a plus

    Educational/Position Requirements: Bachelors degree, analytical, and MS (Excel)


  • Exceptional analytical, diplomatic and creative problem solving skills in a project management environment.
  • Efficient, professional and timely written and oral communication (English), as well as the ability to present information and recommendations to various levels within the organization.
  • Quality Assurance tools and techniques such as Lean, Six Sigma, TQM, problem solving, etc. experience a plus.
  • Ability to identify and define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Strong knowledge of continuous improvement principles
  • Above average PC skills including Excel, Word, Access database, Power Point management
  • Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:

    Ability to lift 20 to 30 pounds e.g. cases of product and work in a hands on environment
